The screw press – expeller, model range EPM is intended for final pressing of pre-pressed cake from oil-containing seeds and is a component of the technological line for producing vegetable oils by the double-pressing method.

The oilseed cake, to maintain the technological parameters of the screw press before pressing, must be crushed in a hammer crusher.

The crushed cake must undergo moisture-heat treatment before pressing. Requirements for the cake entering the screw press are as follows: temperature up to 120°C, moisture not more than 3 – 3.5%.

The design of the screw press consists of a bedplate, feeder gearbox, screw shaft, sieve cylinder, cone mechanism and a tray in which the pressed oil is collected.

Oil-containing raw material that has undergone preliminary treatment is fed into the loading hopper, engaged by the screw and enters the sieve drum, which consists of separate sieve chambers. By rotating the screw shaft, the raw material is transported through the chambers of the sieve drum. As the free volume of the screw shaft flights decreases toward the outlet of the raw material, and as the diameter of the chambers and gaps of the sieve drum decreases, the pressure on the material being pressed increases. The oil that is pressed passes into the gaps between the sieves and is collected in the tray. The discharge of the pressed material (cake) from the press is regulated by a conical pressure regulator.
