Painted 10 mm aluminum shadow gap profile is used to create a shadow gap at the junction of the ceiling and walls around the perimeter of the room. Made of aluminum with or without coating, depending on the requirement.

Installation of the shadow gap profile:

Walls are leveled in advance, after that an ideally straight horizontal line is applied to the walls, which is the line of the ceiling level (it is better to use a laser level for this). The resulting line must necessarily close, that is, finish at the starting point; any displacement is not allowed.

Next, around the entire perimeter of the room the painted aluminum shadow gap profile (SGP) is fastened (it serves as a guiding profile and at the same time replaces the standard guiding profile for drywall).

At the points where the SGP meets the wall, a sealing tape should be glued (for example, “Dichtungsband”).

The standard length of the SGP is 2.5 m; when fastening such long elements, the connection to the wall must be made in at least 4 places.

The wall plugs/nails used for fastening should have a “mushroom-shaped” head similar to a washer. Such fastening creates a durable and reliable connection, as it enhances the contact of the profiles with the wall.

It is better to install the wall plugs/nails in the classic way: screwing in the plug and then inserting the screw into it.

Gaps between shadow gap profiles are not acceptable.

Then the ceiling is assembled according to the standard drywall ceiling technology.

Overall, the entire installation of such a system does not differ from the standard drywall ceiling installation technology, only in this case the standard 27x27 guiding profile around the perimeter of the walls is replaced by the shadow gap profile, while the same technical requirements must be observed. That is all the differences.
