Variety PUSTUNKA The Pustunka cherry belongs to the breeding of the M.F. Sydorenko Institute of Irrigated Gardening of the UAAS, created by the couple V.A. and N.I. Turovtsevi. The fruits are large, weighing 5–6 grams, of a flat-round shape, dark red, almost black in color. The flesh is dark red, tender and juicy, with a fresh sweet-and-sour taste, producing dark red juice. The pit is very small, rounded, and separates easily. The tree is medium height and fast-growing, with a spreading, moderately dense crown. It begins bearing fruit in the 3rd year, yielding 10–12 kg up to 6 years, and 30–40 kg of tasty cherries by 10 years. The variety is self-sterile, so it is worth arranging proper neighbors. The best can be Vinka, Samsonivka and Chornokorka. Taste is sweet-and-sour, refreshing. The fruits contain 16.0% dry matter, 10.4% sugars, 0.94% acids. The plant is resistant to frost and other winter adversities, to coccomycosis and moniliosis.
