    Variety ADRIATICThe Adriatic White fig (Adriatic White, Verdone) is a self-pollinating early-ripening fig variety; in the conditions of Ukraine it ripens from the second decade of September. Bred in France. Yield is high.Fruits are of excellent taste quality, medium-sized, average weight 70 g. Yellow-green in color, flesh intensely pink. Forms as a bush (5-10 shoots); for the winter they are bent down and pinned, then buried with a layer of soil (10-15 cm) without any additional insulation.The height of the bush is limited to two meters by annual pruning. Shoots that by their 4th–5th year of life are already difficult to bend and bury are cut off in the fall near the root collar. During the next growing season replacement shoots (1–1.5 m) grow and, after overwintering, give the first crop. Planting of fig is recommended in sunny southern sites of your plot protected from strong winds. Soil should be fertile; the plant is moisture-loving.Fig seedlings are practically not prone to diseases. Cold hardiness of mature bushes is down to -17 °C. In the climatic conditions of Ukraine they require winter shelter.
