Description:

YaMZ repair kit of the old model, differs from other YaMZ 236, 238 pump repair kits by having the shortest shaft of all water pumps of this type and exposed small bearings 203 and 303. The impeller of the old-model water pump is smaller in diameter than the impeller of pumps of the new model produced after 1986 and is usually made of bronze. You can distinguish the new and old model pump by the water pump cover, which is fastened with six bolts through a paronite gasket on the 236-1307010-A old-model pump, and with 2 studs on the 236-1307010-A2 new-model pumps for a 160703 bearing. The other water pump components are interchangeable, such as: thrust sleeve 236-1307017-V, fiber 236-1307029, studs and pulley 236-1307212-B3.

Assembly, disassembly, inspection and replacement of worn parts must be carried out according to the YaMZ engine repair manual, using all necessary tools and equipment. After assembly, check the water pump for leaks.

The pump is lubricated by grease-gun method through a grease fitting with a petroleum-oil-based grease thickened with lithium soap. Or with a silicone-oil-based grease thickened with calcium soap with added PTFE. Greases based on molybdenum disulfide with added Teflon are also used.
