Description:

Repair kit for the MMZ D-260 engine pump with an impeller for the Euro seal. This pump seal replaced the barrel-type seal in housing 260-1307121 after 2008 production.

The new Euro seal (also called the little mushroom) SP 1341 is installed using a special driver intended for this purpose. The mechanical face seal of this type of engine pump is a cartridge (cartridge-type) seal itself. That is, the graphite sealing ring and the mating sliding ring made of ceramic are located in one housing. Thus the seal consists of a stationary part, which is pressed into the pump housing bore, and a movable part, which is pressed onto the water pump shaft and rotates with it. Therefore, nothing additional is required to isolate the bearing assembly from the coolant.

A sealing bead of silicone sealant is applied to the seal seating. During installation it fills all possible irregularities creating an impermeable contour. Some manufacturers of such seals do not apply sealant; in that case it must be applied manually when assembling the pump.

The plastic impeller is pressed onto the shaft without heating, using a manual press or puller.

The bearings in the repair kit are of standard width – 21 mm. The use of three bearings and the new seal design made it possible to increase the service life of the water pump compared to pumps of the previous design.
