2. Support physical development (strength, agility, accuracy, coordination) – such as hoops, jump ropes, skittles, bicycles, toy guns and pistols, sleds, etc.
3. Introduce children to the surrounding environment: dolls, figurines of people, animals, fish, household items, toy vehicles, and so on.
4. Introduce children to elements of science and technology: construction sets, working models of cars, mechanisms and devices, chemistry and wiring kits, electronic, electrotechnical, aerodynamic, magnetic, pneumatic toys, radio- and electromechanical toys, video games;
5. Introduce children to work processes – shovels, rakes and other gardening tools, items for children's technical creativity, carpenter and mechanic tool sets, children's sewing machines, etc.;
6. Support musical and artistic development: children's musical instruments, puppet theater, coloring books, modeling clay, panoramas, Christmas and carnival decorations;
7. Board games – develop observation, logical thinking, ingenuity, discipline, and a sense of teamwork;
8. Amusement toys – funny, dancing and jumping animal figures, fairy-tale characters with an element of surprise, as well as puzzles and magic tricks.

Classification of toys by child's age

By age suitability, three main groups of children's toys are distinguished:

• for infants (up to 3 years);
• for preschool children (from 3 to 6 years);
• for school-age children (from 6 to 14 years).

Classification by age is related to the fact that children of different ages have different levels of development, show interest in different objects and phenomena, and play with toys that are familiar and understandable to them. Toys that make a sharp sound can frighten a baby, long fur on plush toys can get into the mouth and airways, a large block may simply be impossible for a child to pick up, etc.

For children under one year, rattles, medium-sized blocks and ring stackers are usually bought. For children from one to three years old you can choose toy dishes, dolls and other types of toys marked with the appropriate age indication.

For children over three years old, drawing tools are suitable, such as a board and colored chalks, paints and markers, and various developmental kits can be purchased. A nearly fail-safe option is dolls with accessories, toy soldiers and cars, as well as animal-shaped or cartoon-character toys. Older children, after six years, will be interested in radio-controlled car models, complex small construction sets, dolls and realistic accessories, board games, puzzles, arcade machines, toy guns, military figures, and noisy musical instruments.
