Purpose

The chain tensioning kit is intended for use on Corn Plant corn headers (KMS-8). Its main task is to provide optimal tension of the drive chains that transmit force to the header’s working units (rollers, feeding conveyors, etc.).

With the correctly set chain tension:

it does not derail from the sprockets;

it does not stretch prematurely;

it does not create excessive load on the drive.

Operating principle

After installation, a roller or sprocket presses the chain to the required tension level.

Tension is achieved either by a spring that automatically adjusts to chain length changes, or by a bolted method — allowing manual adjustment.

The mechanism compensates for chain elongation that occurs during operation and prevents its slipping or derailing from the sprockets.
