Sliding clutch for auger of Corn Plant (KMS-8) corn header
Purpose
The sliding clutch of the auger is designed to protect the drive of the feed auger of the Corn Plant (KMS-8) corn header from overloads and mechanical damage. It functions as a safety element that disconnects the transmission of torque in case of jamming or excessive load on the auger.
By using this clutch, the longevity of the header's transmission units is ensured, reducing the risk of breakdowns and equipment downtime.
Design and principle of operation
The clutch consists of:
-
A housing (cup) with mounting holes;
-
A splined or keyed connection to the shaft;
-
Friction surfaces / sliding discs;
-
A spring mechanism for adjusting the activation force.
How it works:
-
In normal mode, rotation of the auger is transmitted from the gearbox through the clutch.
-
In case of overload or auger jamming, the clutch slips, preventing drive damage.
-
After the load decreases, the transmission of force is restored automatically or after technical intervention.
Advantages
- Reliable transmission protection
The clutch prevents breakage of shafts, gearboxes and augers in case of jamming or foreign object ingress.
- Long service life
Due to heat-treated parts and quality friction elements, long-lasting operation is ensured even in harsh field conditions.
- Ease of maintenance
The clutch is easily removed for inspection, and the activation force is adjusted manually (depending on the model).
- Full compatibility with KMS-8
Fits perfectly on original or adapted augers of Corn Plant headers, and is also used in compatible CLAAS models.
- Stable operation even with wet or clogged crops
Increased reliability in tough harvesting conditions — with higher raw material mass or difficult weather conditions.
Field of application
-
Corn header KMS-8 (Corn Plant)
-
Feed auger drives
-
Protection of gearboxes and input shafts from overloads
-
Compatible header modifications CLAAS, John Greaves, ZNS, Oros (specify on request).
