Used scooter in Ukraine

Due to the ongoing rise in fuel prices, many car drivers and pedestrians switch to a moped, scooter, or motorroller from spring to autumn to save money. This type of vehicle offers several advantages over a car or public transport:

  • the scooter has compact dimensions, so it does not require much parking space;
  • the small, economical engine consumes very little fuel and is easy to repair;
  • scooters, mopeds and motorrollers do not require insurance or license plates (up to a certain engine size);
  • a scooter lets you ride with the wind in your face, enjoying fresh air and good views during the trip;
  • a motorroller can maneuver, ride through narrow passages, avoid traffic jams, etc.

Buying a scooter for the city or countryside is an ideal choice for those who value freedom, speed and comfort of travel. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a new or older model. With the right choice and proper care, a used scooter will last a long time.

How to choose a scooter: a few expert tips

If this is your first purchase of this vehicle class, it is probably better to buy a used model so you won’t regret potential mishaps while you are still learning to ride confidently.

Scooters and mopeds are a convenient and economical means of transportation suitable for both city and rural life. But to avoid regretting your purchase, you should consider a few important factors:

  1. Engine capacity – determines the bike’s speed and acceleration. The larger the displacement, the faster the moped will go and the more confidently it will handle climbs. However, this also means higher fuel consumption and maintenance costs. The optimal engine capacity is from 50 to 150 cc, though models over 150 cc are also available for sale.
  2. Top speed – a powerful model can reach speeds over 100 km/h. The farther you plan to travel on the scooter, the faster the bike you should consider.
  3. Vehicle dimensions – affect the comfort and maneuverability of the motorroller on the road. It is important to choose a moped that fits the rider’s build. If you are short and slim, a small or medium scooter will suit you better.
  4. Fuel consumption – on average, scooters up to 50 cc consume from 2 to 4 liters per 100 km; 50–150 cc models consume from 5 to 10 liters per 100 km.
  5. Equipment – brakes, suspension, tires, headlights, mirrors, anti-theft system, etc.
