Description:

The repair kit consists of bearings 21 mm wide, a shaft for pressing in, a new-design pump seal (barrel type), a steel sliding washer, a rubber sealing cuff for the washer and a plastic impeller.

The impeller has a steel bushing for pressing onto the shaft, which has a thread to facilitate its removal. The shaft is sealed by friction of the steel washer against the graphite sealing ring of the seal. The sliding washer is sealed by a rubber cuff, which is pressed by the water pump impeller.

It is recommended to lubricate the cuff with silicone sealant to protect the seal spring and bearings from coolant leaking between the cuff and the impeller. The pump seal is in a steel housing with a steel spring, so when installing the seal, smear its housing with a thin layer of silicone sealant to fill any possible scratches and irregularities of the seating surface and to protect the seal housing from corrosion. The face of the sealing element is lubricated with graphite grease to increase the contact area of the sliding washer before it wears in with the working surface of the seal.

Pumps with this impeller and shaft design were most often installed on tractor and vehicle modifications of engines D-245 and D-243, but because they have the standard housing 245-1307025, they are interchangeable with new-design pumps from the D-240 engine where the shaft and impeller have a flat and are fastened with a bolt, which greatly simplifies repair. At the same time their pulleys are different, but the repair kits are interchangeable.
