- Marble – a limestone that has been compacted and "baked" under high pressure and temperature. It is significantly softer and lighter than granite (service life 50–100 years) and offers greater variety in decorative qualities. It is easier to process — sawing, grinding, and polishing to a mirror shine. Marble can be used to make decorative interior elements such as columns, staircases, and windowsills.
- Onyx – a variety of chalcedony quartz with characteristic parallel bands or layers in shades of opaque black, white, or other colors. It forms from gas cavities in lava filled with cryptocrystalline quartz, resulting in a unique banded appearance.
What Determines the Price of Natural Stone
The price of natural stone depends on several factors:
- Type of stone – marble, granite, onyx, and limestone have different prices.
- Color of the stone also affects its cost. Some colors can be rarer or require special processing.
- Grain size – the surface texture of the stone can range from coarse to smooth. A more complex texture increases the price.
Remember that natural stone has unique beauty and strength, but its cost is higher compared to artificial alternatives.
