A boat is one of the oldest and most widespread types of transport used for moving across bodies of water. Boats come in various sizes, shapes, materials, and propulsion methods. You can buy a boat for fishing, tourism, recreation, sports, military operations, and commerce.

How to choose a boat

Buying a boat is a responsible decision that depends on many factors, which we describe below.

In Ukraine, boats can be purchased in four main types:

1. Rowboats – simple, budget-friendly, and quiet boats suitable for calm waters that do not require special permits or skills to operate. A rowboat allows you to enjoy nature and go fishing, but it is slow and inconvenient for long trips.
2. Sailboats – watercraft that use wind power for propulsion. They are more complex and expensive than rowboats and require certain knowledge and sail-handling skills. Sailboats come in various types: from small dinghies to large yachts. Sailboats are great for enjoyable outings with friends or for participating in sailing competitions.
3. Motorboats – boats that use an engine for movement. They are fast and maneuverable, suitable for any waters and purposes (fishing, travel, water protection, etc.).
4. Inflatable boats – boats made of airtight chambers filled with air. They are lightweight and compact, making storage and transportation easier. An inflatable boat can be propelled by oars or a motor. This type of vessel is suitable for fishing, hunting, or cruising in shallow waters, but it is vulnerable to cuts and punctures.

Additional criteria for choosing a boat:

• capacity (boats can be single-, two-, three-, or four-person);
• material (rubberized, PVC, neoprene, polyurethane);
• price (used models are cheaper).

Where to profitably sell or buy a boat
