Variety PRIME TIME Prime Time — an American variety of Chinese plum, selected in California by breeder Eric Uhl Fresno from 35 trees of the Challenger and Showtime varieties. PrimeTime is an F1 hybrid of these two varieties. It is characterized by high yield, very large fruits that do not drop and do not crack when ripening. Suitable for cultivation in all zones of Ukraine. It is distinguished by high winter hardiness and disease resistance. Prime-Time plum seedlings are budded onto cherry plum rootstocks, which ensures good yield from a young age. Some of the advantages of the variety are the high taste quality and aroma of the fruits; the plum is not diploid, meaning the variety was not obtained as a result of artificial genetic modification. Large fruit size. Partially self-pollinating variety (to increase yield it is recommended to plant pollinators nearby), high and stable yields, high transportability of the plums. The plums are very large, namely 116–198 grams. The fruits are moderately juicy, sweet, dessert-flavored, with a harmonious balance of acid and sugar. The plums are characterized by an excellent aroma and fruit texture; the flesh is dense, rich rhodonite-pink in color, largely semi-transparent light yellowish-red with red streaks. The color of the Prime-Time plums is red; at full ripeness the plum acquires a dark eggplant shade. Plums are uniform, heart-shaped with a shallow vertical seam along the edges from the base to the tip of the fruit. The fruit skin is thin, moderately elastic, firmly attached to the flesh. Ripening period: beginning — first decade of September. Ripe plums do not fall from the trees and do not crack. Marketability and transportability of PrimeTime plums are high; storage life is 3.5–4 months. Ideally suited for fresh consumption, and for making jam and compotes.
