Gas shock absorber for Corn Plant corn header (KMS-8)
Purpose
The gas shock absorber is used in the design of the KMS-8 (Corn Plant) corn header to provide smooth and safe opening/closing of lids, protective covers, hoods and service hatches.
It reduces the effort required to raise or lower heavy parts of the header, protects components from mechanical damage and increases the convenience of servicing the equipment in the field.
Design and principle of operation
The gas shock absorber consists of:
-
A metal cylinder filled with an inert gas under pressure;
-
A piston with a guide rod — moves inside the cylinder;
-
Mountings (eyes, ball joints or bolt connections) for mounting to the header.
Principle of operation:
-
When force is applied (for example, when opening a lid), the gas is compressed inside the cylinder.
-
This creates an elastic resistance that cushions the movement and prevents impacts.
-
When the load is removed, the gas smoothly pushes the rod back, returning the element to its initial position.
Main advantages
- Smooth operation of lids and covers
Provides controlled opening and closing — without jerks and impacts.
- Equipment protection
Reduces loads on hinges, bolts and connections, extending the life of metal structures.
- Reduced injury risk
The lid does not "fall" from the hands — it is easier for the operator to work without the risk of crushing or impact.
- High wear resistance
Shock absorbers withstand up to 40,000 operating cycles. Resistant to dust, dirt and moisture.
- Easy installation
Quickly installed without special tools. Fully compatible with KMS-8 (Corn Plant) headers.
Scope of application
-
KMS-8 corn headers
-
Other header modifications
-
Service hoods, mechanism covers, protective panels, hatches
