    Variety SANTA ROSAPlum Santa Rosa – a diploid plum variety of mid-early ripening. Bred by Luther Burbank in Santa Rosa (California) in 1906. One of the most popular dessert varieties in the USA. Tree of medium vigor, early-bearing. Blossoms in early April, heavily. Yield is high, annual.The fruits are very large, weighing 60–85 g, some up to 120 g, round in shape with a suture. Ground color red-purple or dark purple, with many small light dots. Flesh is ruby-colored, very juicy, tender, of excellent sweet taste, has a pronounced aroma. Stone is small, poorly separates. Ripens at the end of July, fruit harvesting takes about 2 weeks. Has high profitability in commercial plantations. Pollinates other diploid plum varieties well.Frost resistance is high, but it is sensitive to late spring frosts. Undemanding to growing conditions. Good transportability.Santa Rosa remains a long-time favorite worldwide. Sweet red flesh is excellent for eating fresh, as well as for canning and baking.
