Variety GALAKTIKATree-like raspberry (standard/trunk variety)Ripening time: mid-earlyFruit weight: 10-18 gTaste: sweet, with characteristic aromaVariety type: remontantWhat is a tree-like raspberry?Tree-like raspberry refers to standard/trunk varieties of this berry - varieties that do not require support when cultivated. They hold well; shrub branches may bend under the weight of the berries but will not fall because they are rigid with shortened internodes. "Tree-like raspberry" is not a variety name but a cultivation method.Description of the varietyGalaktika raspberry is a standard/trunk variety, meaning the plant has a tree-like growth form. The variety is productive, semi-remontant, mid-early in fruit ripening. It grows and bears fruit well in all regions of Ukraine. It has winter hardiness. The Galaktika variety forms a trunk bush up to 2 meters high. The plant is compact, vigorous, with good sprouting ability. 8-10 replacement shoots are formed, and 4-5 root suckers. Stems are free of thorns. The fruits of Galaktika raspberry are large, elongated in shape, dark red in color, with gloss. Fruit weight averages 10-18 g, individual fruits sometimes reach 25 g. Taste is sweet, with a characteristic aroma. Flesh is juicy. Drupelets are uniform and small. Fruits of the Galaktika variety are fairly firm, therefore they have good transportability. Recommended for universal use, excellent for culinary processing. From one plant per season you can harvest 8-12 kg of fruit; ideal care provides yield from a bush up to 18 kg. Fruiting continues approximately from mid-July to August 10. The harvest is completely collected in 4-5 picks carried out at intervals of several days.Agrotechnics: how to properly care for the Galaktika standard raspberry? As a rule, standard raspberries should be planted at a thirty-degree angle. This is done to allow young shoots to appear easily and unobstructed. When planting, the old stem is cut so that 15-20 cm remains above the ground."Tree-like" raspberry bears fruit on young one-and-a-half-meter shoots. Last year’s stems should be cut. When cutting last year’s stems, vertical growth is blocked and lateral upper shoots begin to grow. These will be the ones to delight you with an abundant harvest next year. The standard raspberry has a fibrous, very massive, highly expanded root system. This allows it to easily take root during planting and tolerate stress during transplanting. Propagation by root suckers will not present any difficulties; on the contrary, it will please any gardener with their quantity.
