Variety TONDA DI GIFFONITonda di Giffoni - an industrial variety characterized by a high yield of quality hazelnuts. The selection was developed in Italy, in the province of Salerno (near Naples). The main advantages include resistance to bacterial blight and medium susceptibility to bud mite.Hazelnut Tonda di Giffoni forms a medium-growing bush up to 4.5 meters high with a wide crown up to 3 meters in diameter. The leaf is medium, dark green in color, ribbed. Flowering from February to the second ten-day period of March. Cropping on suckers begins from the second - third year. The variety is early ripening, nuts are harvested from the first ten-day period of September.Nuts are medium and round, with a brown stripe and have very pronounced grooves on the sides, average mass 2.5 grams, kernel yield 44–47%, kernel mass 1.5 grams. Kernels are round with small angles and may have light pellicle. They blanch very well.Resistance to major diseases is average. It has relatively low cold requirements for female and vegetative buds, suitable for areas with mild winters. Yield is stable, high: 3–3.5 t/ha. Nuts ripen in early September.The best pollinators for this variety: Tonda Gentile Romana, Camponica, San Giovanni, Mortarella.Min. temperature -29°C
