Ergonomic functional garlic planter for a mini-tractor CHSN-4 has a well-thought-out design that allows the unit to plant bulb crops with high efficiency on medium and large areas with well-tilled and fertilized soil. Standard garlic is used for sowing (cloves 15–25 mm); crops are planted in four rows simultaneously, with an adjustable row width from 200 to 580 mm. Maximum productivity is 0.9 ha/h.
This garlic seeder is designed for equipment with at least 12 horsepower, mounts on motor-tractors with a rear single-point hitch, and is attached to mini-tractors using a three-point rear hitch system. Inside the four hoppers, each with a capacity of 7 L, are sowing devices — a working chain with cups of 23 or 26 mm diameter. Each planting mechanism has a separate chain drive with a set of interchangeable sprockets, driven by traction wheels.
Seed picked up by the cups is carried upward and dropped into the furrow at a preset interval. The planting step is determined by the interchangeable sprockets; depending on the number of teeth, the distance between planted cloves can be 80, 100, or 120 mm. The allowable seeding rate is 7–10 cloves per meter. Steel keel-shaped coulters with which the garlic planter is equipped cut a furrow to a depth of 30 to 100 mm; planted seeds are covered on both sides by two flat closers. Planting depth is adjusted by changing the coulter height; the angle between the closers can be controlled using bolted connections.
