High-efficiency six-row planter for garlic for mini-tractor CHS-5 (CHST-6) performs planting of garlic cloves and onion sets simultaneously in six rows, covering a track width of 2220 mm - this allows achieving increased productivity - 1.5 ha/h, with a planting rate from 7 to 10 cloves per one meter of area. It is attached to mini-tractors with power from 18 horsepower, fixed to the machine by a rear three-point hitch system.
The garlic planter is equipped with six metal hoppers with a volume of 10 L each. The seeding units are inside the hoppers, driven by the ground-engaging wheels via two chain drives with interchangeable sprockets, separately on the right and left wheels. At the lower part there are keel-shaped coulters that cut the furrow to the required depth - when repositioning the coulters the planting depth can be from 60 to 80 mm. Behind, under the hoppers, two flat pressers are attached, mounted at a certain angle.
The garlic seeder plants seed as follows - the planting mechanism hooks calibrated cloves (15-25 mm) with spoons (diameter 34 mm) and feeds them upward to the guiding element. The seed, falling into the made holes, is covered on both sides by soil with steel pressers along the direction of travel. The planting step is adjusted by interchangeable sprockets and is in the range - 110-125-140 mm. The working units can be moved on the frame using bolted connections, which makes it possible to set the required row spacing from 200 to 400 mm, taking into account the features of the processed plot.
