Description:

Standard repair kit for pump 18N-13S2. This water pump is also called pump SMD-18, SMD-14, 22 of the new model, due to a different housing design developed for use with an impeller seal of the housing-type water pump. At the same time, the thrust sliding sleeve is not installed in the pump housing but is pressed into the water pump impeller. Thus, the bearing assembly is sealed by the friction of the impeller sleeve against the graphite sealing surface of the water pump seal (barrel).

Open bearings were installed in SMD water pumps, which were protected from contamination by rubber-reinforced seals (gaskets). When semi-closed and closed bearings appeared, the acute need to install gaskets disappeared.

The only nuance is that the SMD-18 pump is lubricated by greasing through the angled grease fitting 2.3.45.C6 with LITOL-24 grease, while closed bearings sealed on both sides have grease placed at the factory for the entire service life of the bearing. Therefore, closed bearings do not need lubrication.

Open bearings, however, must be washed of contaminants and lubricated before installation.

To simplify pump repair, the seating area of the impeller seal can be greased with sealant before installation, and the working part of the seal can be greased with graphite grease to protect against liquid leakage through the seal until full run-in with the impeller sleeve.
