The sturdy functional single-row potato planter for the KS10 walk-behind tractor is equipped with a durable metal hopper with increased capacity up to 60 L, allowing planting work for a fairly long time without refueling stops, reaching maximum productivity of 0.2 ha/h. It has a reinforced single-point hitch with a turnbuckle for power equipment with at least 10 horsepower.
Selected potatoes by diameter are used for planting — no more than 60 mm, specially calculated for the size of the baskets. During planting, the potato planter hooks tubers onto the baskets and lifts them on the upward-moving conveyor to the guiding shaft. The potatoes fall into the furrow made by the coulter and are covered with soil by two ridgers along the direction of travel.
The keel-shaped steel coulter has an ergonomic shape and is adjustable for depth from 5 to 10 cm by changing the height using convenient bolted connections. At the rear, the planter for the walk-behind tractor is equipped with two movable disc ridgers on bearings, fastened to the transverse profile beam with pressure plates. Thanks to these connections, the ridgers can move freely along the frame and change position, which allows forming a neat soil ridge.
A drive chain transmits torque from the traction wheels to the seeding unit, starting the conveyor. The required planting spacing of 20 or 25 cm is adjusted by interchangeable sprockets with which the single-row potato planter for the KS10 walk-behind tractor is equipped. Two roller tensioners protect the chain drive from sagging, ensuring the unit runs smoothly and continuously.
