The convenient and simple-to-operate single-row potato planter for the walk-behind tractor P-1Tz has a reliable construction designed for significant working loads in any climatic conditions. Intended for planting certified seed potatoes with a size of 52 mm. It is mounted on motorized equipment with power from 6 horsepower using a rear semi-mounted single-point hitch.
This potato planter is equipped with a working unit consisting of a metal hopper (capacity 34 L) and an elevator-type planting mechanism, which is a sturdy roller chain with baskets made of steel wire. The traction is provided by ground-engaging wheels, which transmit rotation through an intermediate shaft and chain drive to the seeding device.
During planting, the planter for the walk-behind tractor feeds calibrated tubers upward on the baskets of the moving conveyor to the top of the hopper, and then, through a guide shaft, into the furrow formed by the share. Planting depth is determined by the height of the keel-shaped share and is 5–15 cm. The planted potatoes in the holes are covered with soil by two disc hillers along the direction of travel.
The required planting spacing of the single-row potato planter for the walk-behind tractor P-1Tz is adjusted by repositioning the drive chain using a set of interchangeable sprockets. The distance between tubers depends on the diameter and number of teeth of the sprocket; allowable intervals for this model are 20–25–30 cm. The disc closers are adjustable in height, attack angle, and spacing. Maximum unit capacity is 0.1 ha/h.
