Compact maneuverable equipment - a potato planter for a walk-behind tractor with a fertilizer hopper (34 liters) is designed for mechanized planting of tubers on medium-sized plots with simultaneous introduction of dry mineral fertilizers into the soil. It connects to machinery with at least 8 horsepower via an adjustable single-point hitch.
Calibrated tubers up to 40 mm in diameter are used for planting. Planting material is loaded into a metal hopper, inside which there is a planting mechanism - a chain conveyor with round metal cups, driven by the ground-engaging wheels via a chain drive equipped with a set of interchangeable sprockets. While the machine moves, the potato planter for the walk-behind tractor supplies tubers on the conveyor to the guiding shaft and drops the vegetables into the furrow created by a keel-shaped coulter. At the same time, bulk mineral fertilizers from a small metal container attached to the hopper wall are delivered to the furrow.
Two disc-shaped hillers located at the rear of the unit cover the planted tuber with soil, forming a smooth earth ridge. The presence of bearings and movable bolted connections allows easy setting of the required attack angle and distance between tools. Planting spacing is adjusted by moving the drive chain to one of the interchangeable sprockets to 15-20-25-30 cm. Planting depth is adjusted by changing the working height of the keel-shaped coulter - from 5 to 10 cm. The maximum productivity of the potato planter for the walk-behind tractor with fertilizer hopper (20 liters) is 0.1 ha/h.
