KS7 set for planting potatoes for heavy diesel walk-behind tractor
The KS7 potato planting set is designed to reduce the cost of the potato planting process on small household plots where buying a full bunker potato planter is economically impractical. The KS7 potato planter is the result of a deep modernization of the KS1 disc hiller. A significant difference is the use of the reversible KS7 disc hiller not only during planting, as the KS1 hiller is used, but also in subsequent potato cultivation thanks to the use of a full double hitch in the KS7. The KS7 potato planting set is a pivot mechanism that has a mount for installing a furrow opener on one side and a double hitch on the opposite side for installing disc hillers and other working elements as desired. The KS7 potato hillers for walk-behind tractors are intended for planting potatoes on pre-tilled and prepared soils with soil moisture not exceeding 30%. The KS7 swivel potato hiller was created specifically for walk-behind tractors with a water-cooled engine that do not have the ability to adjust the handles by height, but it is also suitable for tractors that do have this capability.
Features of the KS7 potato marker design:
Connection to the walk-behind tractor of the KS7 potato hiller is made using a drawbar unit with a bushing. The drawbar unit is a welded construction. There are spacer bolts. The frame is made from a 50×50×2×240 profile tube. There is a pivot mechanism lock. Rotation of the KS7 potato hiller occurs by 90 degrees in the plane of the tractor's movement. There are bushings for mounting the hillers (bolted fastening), which allows adjustment of the height position and working angle of the hillers. The hiller mounts have the ability to adjust the working width. The disc hillers are made of 2 mm sheet steel and have a diameter of 340 mm. Two 203 bearings are installed. The furrow opener has a shank made from a 10 × 50 × 400 mm steel strip, which has 6 holes with a diameter of 12.5 mm. These mounting holes provide the ability to adjust the height position of the furrow opener. The furrow opener wing is made from 2 × 213 × 345 mm sheet steel.
Operating principle of the KS7 swivel potato hiller
A full planting cycle is completed in two passes:
On the first pass you cut the ridge using the furrow opener, after which you need to manually lay the potatoes in the ridge.
After that you switch the pivot mechanism to the position in which the hillers are in working state – down. Making a pass in the opposite direction, you cover the potato ridge with soil.
