The KS1 planting kit is designed to reduce the cost of planting potatoes and other garden crops on small household plots when working with light walk-behind tractors, where purchasing a full hopper potato planter is economically impractical or impossible given the lightness of the walk-behind tractor itself. The KS1 rotary planter is a pivot mechanism that on one side has a mount for installing a coulter, and on the opposite side — a mount for installing disc hillers. The KS1 potato hillers are suitable for connection to light walk-behind tractors of the Zirka-105 type with an air-cooled engine. The KS1 planting marker is intended for planting potatoes on pre-processed and prepared soils, with soil moisture not exceeding 30%.
Features of the KS1 planting kit construction
The attachment of the KS1 potato hiller to the walk-behind tractor is carried out using a hitch unit with a bushing (height 60 mm, inner Ø18.5 mm). The hitch unit is welded. There are spacer bolts for more reliable fixation. The frame of the planting kit is made of profile tubing 50 × 50 × 2 × 260. There is a handle-lock of the pivot mechanism with a spring. The rotation of the planting plow occurs 180 degrees perpendicular to the plane of movement of the walk-behind tractor. Bushings are provided for attaching the hillers using bolt fastenings. These bushings allow adjustment of the height position and working angle of the hillers. The hiller mounts are welded to the frame, therefore the possibility of adjusting the width between them is absent. The disc hillers are made of sheet steel 2 mm thick and have a diameter of 280 mm. Smooth and even operation is ensured by two installed 202 bearings. The share has a stand made of steel strip 10 × 50 × 400 mm, which has 6 holes with a diameter of 12.5 mm. These mounting holes provide the ability to adjust the height position of the coulter, which in turn is made of sheet steel 2 × 213 × 345 mm. There is also a bolt fastening — a turnbuckle for adjusting the attack angle of the coulter.
Operating principle of the KS1 potato hiller
A full planting cycle takes place in two passes:
on the first pass you cut the row using the coulter, after which it is necessary to manually place the potatoes in the row.
after that you turn the pivot mechanism to the position where the hillers are in the working position — down. Making a pass in the opposite direction, you cover the potato row with soil.
