The original potato planter for a walk-behind tractor KS8 (APK C-M) with a fertilizer hopper is used for planting seed tubers (diameter 40 mm) and applying mineral substances to the soil directly during the planting process. Equipped with a conical 20 L hopper with a seeding mechanism - a chain with cups. The fertilizer hopper of drum type is mounted on the rear of the working unit - fertilizers pass through a dosing opening directly into the holes with planted potatoes.
The potato planter is attached to a walk-behind tractor with at least 8 horsepower using a single-point hitch. The keel-shaped coulter is fixed in front of the hopper with bolt connections, which allow changing the planting depth to 5 or 10 cm. The disc hillers are equipped with a pair of bearings that provide smooth rotation of the coverer, and using bolt fastenings it is easy to adjust the height position and angle of attack.
During planting the planter cuts a furrow to the set depth, the working chain lifts the tubers from the hopper on the cups and drops them through the guide shaft into the holes. Simultaneously with laying the tubers, granular fertilizers are supplied from the dosing device into the furrow, after which the two disc hillers located behind close the crop.
The potato planter for the walk-behind tractor KS8 (APK C-M) with a fertilizer hopper is driven by a chain drive that transmits rotation from the ground-engaging wheels through an intermediate shaft to the working unit mechanism and the fertilizer drum. To prevent chain sagging when adjusting the main functions - fertilizer rate and planting pitch - there is a roller tensioner on the drive chain. Setting the interval between planted tubers to 18 or 25 cm is carried out using interchangeable sprockets by moving the drive chain to sprockets with a specific number of teeth. Maximum capacity - 0.1 ha/h.
